A:I am not sure how to answer your question. RE/MAX is a franchise, each office is independently owned and operated. Therefore, ecah office will have their own policies on commisions. I think though typically they charge their commisions based on a percentange. You would need to discuss that with the local agent. There are new companies popping up everyday, that charge flat fees. These companies are referred to, by the industry, as discount brokerages. People should really ask lots of questions, when looking at these companies, you typically don't get the same services that you would at a full service brokerage. I like to compare it to the difference between a discount store like K-mart and a department store, like Mervyns, or even Dillards. You know that you may get a similar product at K-Mart for a lower price, but you most likely will not get the same service or quality that you would At Mervyn's- you even get a Higher quality at Dillards. Sure you pay more at those stores, but the quality and service is typically much better. The same is true with Real Estate, Typically, you get what you pay for.

A:There are plenty of investment companies out there that will buy your house. Most of them do not buy at retail value (especially not in a declining market). They are easy to find. Just go in the classified section of your local paper, and look for ads that say something like "I buy houses". There are many tools they can use to buy your house. Make sure you get a professional to look over any offers before you sign anything.

A:ERa has more of a gimmick and remax more of a name, ut it really boils down to the agent you hire NOT the company. I have worked at remax and have know some of the best realtors out there and also some of the worst. A:I am not a RE/MAX agent in NC, but used to be one in KY and there is something you should realize before you conclude anything. Re/Max is a franchise name, not a singular company. For example there are over 12 different real estate companies that are franchisees of Re/Max in the city where I live and each one has different fees involved with their agents. I suggest you go to the Re/Max website and look up the individual companies in NC and call them individually. But I do not reccommend working for any Re/Max office if you are new to the business. I did and it was a huge expensive mistake. Go somewhere that is known for good training and then go to a broker that offers you a better cut.
