The Noble and Greenough School, commonly known as Nobles, is a coeducational, nonsectarian day and boarding school for students in grades seven through twelve. It is located on a 187-acre (0.76 km2) campus in Dedham, Massachusetts. The current enrollment of 550 students includes a balance of boys and girls, of whom 48 are weekly boarders who go home for the weekends. The majority of students are from Massachusetts, neighboring states and occasionally from abroad. After graduation, virtually all members of the senior class go on to accredited four-year colleges and universities. The school was ranked the third best secondary school in Massachusetts (public or private) by Boston Magazine.[1] Nobles is also ranked the school with the best looking students in Massachusetts according to Boston Magazine. 33% Q: What is proper etiquette regarding college graduation announcements?
Do I need to get a professional photo taken to send along with the announcement? Is it proper etiquette to even send a photo? How soon before graduation are announcements supposed to be sent? I am the first person in my family to graduate college so this is new to us. Thanks. I graduate in May 2007 with my bachelors degree
A:I think you might be getting some false info. here, so just to add my 2 cents: Announcements are not invitations. When you receive an announcement for a graduation, it is just that, an announcement. I've known several people who were under the false impression they were invited to a graduation, when in fact, it was just an announcement OF the graduation. As I'm sure you know, most colleges only allow 2-4 persons to attend the actual ceremony....you don't need everyone and thier mother thinking they are invited! Anyway, announcements are best sent 1-2 weeks before the event. Any pictures should be sent after the actual graduation. Most colleges have you take a formal portrait with a black cape your senior year, then there is a photo taken at the graduation with cap and gown. Either of these would be fine to send out with a thank you note, or with a personal note to whomever you wish. The main idea is that the photo be of your academic/scholarly life, not you on the beach at spring break. Congrats to you!

33% Q: Graduation Announcements v.s. Invitations?
Im helping my boyfriend out with planning his graduation and we are both the first in our families to attend college. So we are a little confused over the announcments v.s. invitations. He has over 200 family members and they are somewhat close to each other despite the distance. I know that not all of them will attend his graduation ceremony but should I invite them anyways? I was thinking I would just send an announcement with a grad photo after the ceremony to share his accomplishment. But his mother made it sound like I should send invitations to everyone just in case. The invitations were going to be 50 of them from a professional printing company and announcements were going to be cards that I will make/print. Also there is limited seating for some of his ceremonies (he is walking to two of them: his college convocation which only allows 6 people and the American Indian convocation which allows anyone) There will be a party afterwards for him as well. Is it okay to send an announcement and a pary invitation but not invite them to the actual ceremony? Or do I only invite to the party family and friends invited to the ceremony? I dont want to invite someone from out of town just to go the party if there isnt enough space for them to see him walk across that stage- isnt that the best part of graduation? I feel like his mother invited everyone to the ceremony without realizing the limited space at the ceremony. We dont want to offend anyone so how I can handle this situation?
A:Do NOT send out too many invitations to the ceremony where he is walking!!! They will not let them in!! But send out invitations to the party and let everyone know that all are invited and that there was VERY limited (6) seating for the graduation!!! Everyone will understand and if they choose to come they will. It will not offend anyone and you will be surprised at the number of people who will turn up in support of him!!!! And at the American Indian convocation invite as many as possible!! The more the merrier!!!! But the make the party for everyone!!!! Relatives understand more than we think today!! Good luck to the graduate!!!
