graduation speeches
Graduation is the action of receiving or conferring an academic degree or the associated ceremony. The date of event is often called degree day. The event itself is also called commencement, convocation or invocation. At the University of Cambridge, it is known as general admission. In the United States and Canada, it is also used to refer to the advancement from a primary or secondary school level. Beginning at the secondary school level in the United States, such ceremonies usually include a procession of the academic staff and candidates. The candidates will almost always wear academic dress, and increasingly staff will do the same. At the college and university level, the staff will usually wear academic dress at the formal ceremonies, as will the trustees and degree candidates. "Graduation" at the college and university level occurs when the presiding officer confers degrees upon candidates, either individually or en masse, even if graduates physically receive their diploma later at a smaller college or departmental ceremony.....

Q: Funny and powerful quotes or ideas for 8th grade graduation speeches?
I need help thinking of ways to start and end my 8th grade graduation speech. I pretty much need help with my entire speech and its coming up very soon. Please share any ideas or quotes you have. Thanks!
A:I have put in a couple of quotes and some speech ideas. I hope you can get something out of it.
"Your time is limited,
so don't waste it living someone else's life
Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice.
And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.
They somehow already know what you truly want to become.
Everything else is secondary."
By Steve Jobs
"You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.
You're on your own. And you know what you know.
You are the guy who'll decide where to go."
By Dr. Seuss
To make a good start it is easiest to be a little formal. That could be "Principal ..., Honored Guests, Fellow Students and Families.
Congratulations class of 2008."
You could go through events so far in your schooling. Great if you have some funny stories, fun times, and also hard work and success.
This is a good chance to thank family, coaches and teachers who have helped so far. Friends too will have helped.
You might want to take the time to reflect on what graduation day means and how much you are looking forward to any parties.
Looking ahead do you now feel ready to take on the last few years of school education. Do you have any skills, strengths, and abilities which will help with the next steps.
Perhaps you want to use the quotes above to back up a message of taking responsibility for yourself.
What will you do to make a difference.
Aside from your education is there something else worthy of mention such as a charity or volunteer work?
The best of luck!
