So I have to give a speech tomorrow at my college graduation. And I have my speech memorized and all and I'm comfortable with it. It's just I want a little humor in it, especially in the beginning as an icebreaker. So I was thinking of using this line in the beginning. Good morning graduating class of O8! My name is John Bell and I am proud to be the current student government president of Alpine community college. You know to be honest with you guys, I was a little nervous before coming up here. But someone told me to picture everyone in underwear. But then I just pictured of my grandparents and now I don't feel so well anymore! So what do you guys think? Is it inappropriate or just funny?

A:Whats funny is you just gave away your full name and school to the millions of potential pedophiles lurking on the internet. But yeah, I think that is appropriate for a graduation speech and I'm sure it will break the ice. Good luck with your speech :)

100% Q: What to say for a toast honoring my sister's graduation from college?

My sister is graduating college with a degree in Early CHildhood Education. I had planned on giving a toast at her graduation dinner, but then a Speech assignment came up, and I'm going to incorporate some of the material from the toast into my speech assignment. my college is nowhere near V Tech yet we had a 20 minute speech talking about it, and we stood to remember the dead during our graduation. what about yours?

A:I did not graduate recently; however I find this interesting. Although events in our world affects us and should be recognized, I believe that this was not an appropriate speech to send the graduates out on. I standing for the dead was respectful, though it was perhaps better placed during a special university event, not graduation.

The thing is i'm not really graduating , i'm a sophmore and my teacher decided that for the final project we have to fill out a college application and we have to write a 4 page speech as if we were really graduating. Though i seriously need some ideas on what i could write about . My teacher said that we should use psychoanalytic approach and make a connection with the audience . And now, with this uncertain future called "college" awaiting me, I look back and cherish those moments. That's the thing that makes moving on the hardest. You never know what curve life will throw at you next. It's easier to stay in the past, where you are comfortable and secure. But moving on is important. It's what allows us to grow, expand, and branch out. My choices and decisions over the next few years will determine what kind of person I will become as an adult in our society. This formative period in every student's life is very important, and the education I have received and the life lessons that I have learned at (name of your school) have given me a solid foundation, upon which I will blaze a path to success, which many of my peers will follow. I thank my school, its faculty, and everyone who has contributed to my success these past few years for all their hard work. You've kept me safe, focused, and on the right path. Know that you have given me the courage, strength, determination, diligence, and knowledge to continue on this path for the rest of my life. I will say it again. Thank you!
