100% Q: College Essays?
When writing a college essay, is it okay if one uses an essay one has written about before? The topic I've chosen is "adversity, etc." You all know it, it's that whole overcoming problems deal. I'm toying with using an essay I've written on Asperger's Syndrome, and it's been submitted to contests before. Is that okay, or do colleges want totally, off the top of your head, original essays?
A:I suppose we all do this sometimes, but is it really honest? Basically, colleges want essays written specifically for their courses and for the qualification you are taking - certificate, diploma, degree. Some colleges require you to sign a statement to this effect on a front sheet of all work submitted for assessment. If you just submit stuff you've done before you are actually getting two (or more!) qualifications for the same work, which is neither fair nor honest. (But yeah, I've done it occasionally when I've been under pressure.) However, it is sometimes OK to rework a topic you've done before if you introduce a substantial amount of new material. A final point, college education is meant to extend your experience and stretch your mind. You are less likely to do this if you just recycle a limited amount of material. Think Fresh. Expand Your Mind. And good luck.

100% Q: is it ok to be 25 words over a limit for college essays?
What if I am twentyfive words over a limit for an application essay to college? I have 524, 525 for two 500 limit essays and then a 786 for a 750 limit. How far over is too far?
A:Is it really that hard to eliminate 25 words?

100% Q: How do I write college essays?
Since I know that it all depends on the college, I want to ask what you had to do for your essay. So I would like to ask the following: How long did your essay have to be? What kind of heading did you give to your essay(in what order)? I was already given my topic on what to write and was told that I only have to write one essay. Can this be considered lucky?
A:1) It depends. Sometimes 500 words, while other times I did 2,500 words and up. 2) Title that describes the idea of the work, in an easy to understand way. As an example, an essay discussing how to paint an oil painting, the title might be, "Techniques In Oil Painting" , or "Painting with Oil Colours," or something like this. My examples were just off the top of my head, but you get the idea. 3) Whether one or one hundred essays, make sure that you understand what you are doing, and do it well. This one essay is probably worth a lot, so you are not really lucky since there wont be any other time to make up the points.

100% Q: How do you write great college essays that stand out among applicants for transfer students?
D.Transfers only: Please discuss your interest in transferring to New York University. Explain your reasons for wanting to leave your current college or university (or if not currently in attendance, why you left the last institution you attended), and describe how you feel your educational goals can be better achieved at NYU. Please reflect on your reasons for considering a transfer. Why are you transferring? Why was your most recent college not a good fit? What do you know now that you didn't know during your first college search process? b. (FOR TRANSFER APPLICANTS ONLY). Consider the books, essays, poems, or journal articles you have read over the last year or two, either for school or leisure. Please discuss the way in which one of them has changed your understanding of the world, other people, or yourself. There are about 3 or 4 different essays to write! I NEED MAJOR HELP!
A:My advice to you is make sure all spelling, grammer, and puncuation is correct because they will check this with a fine tooth comb. Secondly, vary sentence length and type mixing in simple sentences all the way up to complex compound sentences. Thirdly, if you do option A do not bad mouth the other school, but be honest. Fourthly DO NOT use the words That (redundent), I or You (college writting should not have these words, instead use one, who, whom, etc.). Hope this helps
