A:Are you in Paris or somewhere else in France? I've been told by many people who've worked or studied in France that all the immigration procedures are much smoother outside Paris than in Paris.

A:no, unless you already have a resident card or # carte de séjour # in France, if you do NOT? no, impossible; if you entered France illegally? no way on earth would you get a residency card for you, the father, nor the child, trust me.... many foreigners try this? it does not work. because a child is born in France, it does NOT give nor the child or the parents any rights, if you are in France legally? you should already have a carte de séjour, if not? you are illegally there, it is simple............. France does NOT recognize children that are born in France unless one parent is french as well; ps: i am french , i ought to know the laws? and i do.......... :-)

A:Here is the problem for you - you CAN'T obtain a carte de sejour before arriving to France. The consulate will give you a visa, which will entitle you to apply for carte de sejour ONCE you're in France. And to get carte de sejour, you'll have to give them your French address - pure catch 22. Sorry about that. In my case an official letter from my host institution (with information about my money situation) helped to arrange accommodation.

A:Carte de Sejour? I was told that thing had gone out of commission? I still have one, but was told it's meaningless now due to changed regulations. But I'm an EU-citizen, so, if you aren't, maybe that's a different story. I would try to find/ produce a document to explain the time difference between your visa expiration and your carte de sejour application, and submit it alongside, just to be safe.
